Background
African Relief and Development Foundation (ARDF) in consortium with Relief International (RI) is implementing an 18 Month World Bank-funded project through UNICEF which kicked off in January 2023 and ended in June 2024. Through the project, ARDF is improving access to quality, life-saving primary and secondary health care services to the most vulnerable population particularly women and children hence reducing the child and maternal mortality rates in Melut and Renk Counties. The project is providing lifesaving service packages that include but are not limited to; 1) Child health services, 2) Maternal and neonatal health services 3) Basic Essential obstetric and newborn care (BEmONC), 4) Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and New-Born Care (CEmOC) 5) Sexual and gender-based violence services, 6) Distribution of essential

medicines and supplies procured by UNICEF, Covid-19 preparedness and response, Disease surveillance and outbreak response, Quality improvement and supervision. To ensure services reach the most vulnerable population with limited access to health care, the project is undertaking regular mobile outreach clinic activities and communitybased health services provided through the Boma Health Initiative (BHI) with a safe motherhood component to bolster community resilience and basic services provision, even while communities are exposed to shocks and cannot be accessed.
Project Goal
The project goal is to ensure that girls and boys under five years of age, adolescent girls, and women of reproductive age in South Sudan have increased and equitable access to quality health services and adopt appropriate health-related behaviors by 2025
Geographical Coverage
ARDF is currently implementing the project in Renk and Melut counties of Upper Nile state, South Sudan.
Target Population
The project is targeting 84,658 people in Melut County and 245, 454 people in Renk County.
